YOUNG

The horizontal wind speed and direction are measured with the YOUNG Model 86000 Ultrasonic Anemometer. The corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and small sensor is built with sensitive ultrasonic transducers enclosed in a sleek, molded frame. To provide precise wind measurement across a broad operating range, every sensor undergoes comprehensive wind tunnel testing and calibration. The typical sensor has serial outputs in multiple formats for RS-232 and RS-485. There are analog voltage outputs for both wind direction and speed. Each channel has current signals ranging from 4 to 20 mA, which are ideal for lengthy cable runs or industrial environments where noise immunity is crucial. The sensor can be installed on a typical 1-inch IPS pipe. Included is a mounting orientation ring that attaches to the sensor’s base when the sensor is taken out for maintenance to maintain orientation. Small clamp-style connections are used to make terminations in a junction box located at the base of the sensor; no additional connectors are needed.
